Sometimes there are big shifts in society and no doubt I think (and dearly hope!) we are at the dawn of a green revolution. 2020 will see so much of what we make and sell be more eco & vegan friendly and well..just kinder to the planet.
Someone told me for us to battle climate change it just relies on everyone doing just a little something and not our relying on bigger business to do everything. What could I do? As a nearly 60 something what changes can I make?
An Electric van is on order and Guy is measuring our studio up for solar panels. Travel has been cut & journeys shared. So far so good. We couldn’t be working harder to ‘clean up’ our fragrance collections. Palm oil free soap now on its way..and lots more happening in 2020.
But could I make the big personal step of trying a Vegan diet ? The only thing to do was try!
Rather than a big jump I tried phasing it in . This way I felt both Simon and I would stick to it a little better.
🌏 Phase 1 : meat only at weekends. Fish and plant based Monday to Friday
🌏 Phase 2: fish at the weekends . Plant based Monday to Friday
🌏 Phase 3: plant based every day
It’s seems to have worked! The phases have given me time to recreate our favourite dishes in plant based formats and I can honestly say I don’t miss fish & meat anymore. My new cauli~bolly (spaghetti bolognese cauliflower style) is now my signature dish!
I’m left with the odd spot of milk in tea to give up. Simon is more a flexitarian ~ I think he’ll still enjoy his fish now and again. But that’s cool. We have greatly reduced / almost eliminated our family meat consumption.
How do we feel? So far so good 👍 and (a little brave) a no make up picture of us both fresh from our favourite run ~ faces washed with the new Jd soap and 3 months of just ..plants!
Will it make any difference? Who knows but great fun trying new things and most certainly something to tell the grandchildren x
